Environmentalism which is also called as environmental rights, is defined as a broad ideology, social movement and philosophy which is based on the concerns of the improvement of the health of the environment and environmental protection. Environmental rights is basically involved with the act or the practice to prevent or stop pollution, as well as to protect the diversity of the animals and plants, for it advocates and supports the idea of the lawful preservation, improvement and restoration of the natural environment. There are basically three kinds of environmentalism, namely the free market environmentalism, the preservation and conservation, and the evangelical environmentalism.
The term environmentalist is referring to the person who practices and has the skills and the knowledge of the basics of environmentalism, and they are also the ones who speak out about the natural environment and the sustainable or viable management of the natural resources. Promoting environmental awareness is basically the works of an environmentalist, and he or she supports other significant practices such as informed consumption, investment in renewable resources, conservation initiatives, improved efficiencies in the economical materials, renewing and revitalizing our connections with the non-human life, and transitioning to new accounting paradigms. The common cause-and-effect problems that can cause harm to our environment, include the deforestation, in which the people have cut down millions of acres of forest for the benefit of the industrial companies and this tends to cause biodiversity and wildlife extinction; the oil drilling, which is recognized as the one that causes a great deal of destruction in the environment such as ocean acidification and progression of global warming; and the production of plastic goods, for the society tends to create a great deal of waste and the production of the plastic is dependent on fossil fuel combustion.
Environmental awareness is basically a term that is recognized as the essential or important part of the success of every environmentalist movement. The common tools and methods used by different kinds of environmentalist movements and groups to promote environmental awareness to the society includes inspirational seminars, group discussions or learnings, and environmental brochures and books. The different project ideas that an environmental steward may do or practice for the environment includes buying reusable products like reusable bags and glass bottles, avoiding the use of plastic bottles and paper towels, composting and recycling to cut down waste production, supporting local farmers by buying organic food, riding their bicycle or walking instead of driving motor vehicles to cut down on greenhouse gas emissions, and investing in an appropriate technology such as clean power.
